3 Things I Can’t Wait to Do in Taiwan

My Taiwan Itinerary: Taipei, Taichung, Nantou, Chiayi, Kaohsiung, Taitung, Hualien, Yilan

My long-awaited Taiwan trip is one week away.

I’ll be covering the whole island within 8 days with my family (itinerary above). My impression about Taiwan is that it’s mostly a city experience as opposed to a scenic destination. Nonetheless, we packed in a little bit of both in this trip. Some of the scenic areas such as Taroko Gorge and Sun Moon Lake seems promising!

I think it’ll be interesting to have a before-and-after trip comparison. Here are the three things I’m looking forward most to in the upcoming Taiwan trip (not in any particular order):

Taiwan Night Markets

1. Street food!

While I’m a glutton, I don’t usually travel just for the food. Taiwan seems to be one damn good argument why I should, though. I mean, look at that pic… don’t you want to munch and chow them down right away? Watch out for major Instagram food porn bombings very soon!

Qingshui Cliff at Hualien

2. The East Coast Ride

Other than the renowned Qingshui Cliff (pictured), I have absolutely no idea what geological marvels await on the Taitung—Hualien—Yilan route. I have deliberately chose not to Google it as this is going to be my first long-haul road trip + train ride. Here’s to discovering unexpected gems on the road!

Releasing Sky Lanterns

3. Releasing lanterns in Shifen

I’m already imagining this… fun, magical, romantic.

Also, traveling can be quite a nightmare without internet, so make sure you book a 4G WiFi to be picked up at Taiwan airport now.

So what do you think? What else should I look forward to?
