Suggested Travel Itinerary for Singapore

Singapore is one of those cities that you can explore on your own, as the train and bus system connects from one end of the island to the other end within 2 hours. Most of the attractions are concentrated on the central area, so you don’t even have to commute much.

But on the downside, Singapore is expensive. So if you’re a backpacker type, you need to squeeze as much as possible in a short trip. The good news is that it is realistic to capture the highlights of Singapore in 3-4 days.

Possible Itinerary

Depending on what time you arrive at and need to leave Singapore, the days can be switched as you please.

Day 1: Walking Tour Around Singapore River

Take MRT to Raffles Place to admire the sight of Singapore’s tallest buildings. Start your walking tour at the Fullerton Hotel and continue to Merlion Park for that iconic Singapore photo before heading to the durian-shaped Esplanade, If time permits, you may want to take Singapore Flyer for an aerial view of Singapore.

Otherwise, pass the Helix Bridge towards ArtScience Museum and Marina Bay Sands. After taking a short break at the MBS luxury shopping mall, explore the Gardens by the Bay and perhaps even the underrated Bay East Garden for the perfect Singapore skyline if you have a little extra time.

At night, take MRT or taxi to Clarke Quay to chill out at one of the night bars. If you want to recapture the magic of everything you’ve seen during the day against beautiful night lights, you can consider taking the Singapore River Cruise.

Day 2: Getaway to Sentosa Island

Start your day with a breakfast at Chinatown (some parts of it is very colorful, especially Club Street) before heading to VivoCity at Harbourfront to buy your ticket to Resorts World Sentosa. There’s something for everyone in Sentosa, so you can spend a whole day doing whatever appeals to you most. Personally, I would recommend Universal Studios Singapore for a day full of fun.

At night, take MRT or taxi to Orchard Road and shop ’til you drop.

Day 3: Wildlife Park Hopping

Visit the acclaimed Singapore Zoo, River Safari and Night Safari.

Day 4: More Singapore Culture

Depending on what time your flight is, you may be able to have a quick visit to Little India, Arab Street and Kampong Glam. Still have a little more time? Why not drop by one of the museums in Singapore? Enjoy a little bit more of Singapore before heading back to wherever you come from.
